Accountant – Oil & Gas
The accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions and maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with internal controls, tax regulations, and reporting requirements.
We are seeking a detail-oriented accountant to support our oil & gas accounting and finance operations. The preferred candidate should know accounts, bookkeeping, finance, bank reconciliation, auditing, and taxation and must be able to handle daily transactions, bookkeeping, and reconciliation while ensuring source integrity and compliance.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions.
- Process payments, invoices, and receipts in accordance with financial policies.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure financial records match bank statements.
- Ensure proper documentation for all financial transactions.
- Process vendor payments and ensure all invoices are properly approved and recorded.
- Manage accounts receivable, invoicing clients and following up on outstanding payments.
- Prepare payroll calculations and ensure timely salary disbursement.
- Prepare tax filings and ensure timely payment of all statutory obligations.
- Ensure all financial records are audit-ready and compliant with regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Accounting Finance, Business Administration, Management or related fields.
Experience

0–2 years’ experience (NYSC or internship experience is acceptable; oil & gas experience is an advantage).
Certifications (Preferred)
- Professional certification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, or equivalent) is an advantage.
KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
- Strong knowledge of oil & gas accounting processes, including drilling materials and services.
- Strong willingness to learn and grow in Accounting and Finance
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and accounting software (SAP/Sage/Oracle/IFS).
- Good knowledge of accounting and finance principles, Nigerian Content laws, import/export regulations, and local supply market.
- High level of integrity, organization, and attention to detail
